What Does It Take To Have a Positive Mental Attitude?

I wanted to expand some more on the article I wrote recently “Mental Attitude Is Everything” as there is so much to say about this topic of Positive Attitude. And, don’t be surprised if later on I will want to cover this topic again as I truly believe that Mental Attitude IS Everything.

So, what does it take to have a positive mental attitude? As I ponder on the response to this question it occurs to me that there is no easy way to answer this. It would seem that some people are born with the ability, if you will, to be eternally positive about everything that happens to them while others see nothing but hardships and failure. Although, these people are often perceived as “Nothing bad ever happens to him/her”, that they were born with a “lucky star”. As I mentioned in my previous article “Mental Attitude is Everything”, these “hardships or failures” should really be seen as opportunities, stepping stones toward the goal that you want to achieve. But, how you might ask do we achieve this positive mental attitude? It was not easy for me to answer this question but this is how I believe you can change your attitude and become a more positive person.

The first step that comes to my mind is Attention. Pay attention to your thought pattern. What is the first thought that comes to your mind when something does not go as you wanted it or expected it? Is it “Now what?” or “I just knew this was going to happen!” or any other negative thought pattern. This may be one of the most difficult steps because you probably have been so deeply conditioned to follow this kind of thinking for so long, probably most of your life, that it happens automatically. Not only that, but it is likely that this conditioning began from your parents or whoever was involved in your emotional development, even society! Now, I said “difficult” NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Every time this negative thinking comes to you, replace it with something positive such as “I wonder where this turn of events will take me” or “Well, it seems I’m going to be learning something new”, you catch my drift.

The second step that occurs to me that you need to do is to be Disciplined and Patient (Is that steps A and B within step 2?). This is going to take time! Be patient with yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was your thinking pattern. You are going to find yourself going back to that negative mental attitude over and over again. Be easy on yourself, forgive yourself and try again and again. Have a list of responses ready so that you don’t have to think of what to substitute your negative thought pattern with. Be prepared!

I left the best for last, you must have FAITH! You have to believe that it is possible to change your habit of thinking negatively in response to your life’s events. This is a learned behavior and it is possible to change it. You can change anything about yourself if you put your mind to it. No excuses. You might find yourself saying “Oh, this is the way I am” or “I’ve always been this way”. This is nonsense, excuses that people make to not go through the effort of changing, of improving themselves. These negative thoughts are NOT who you are. You were not born this way! They are your thoughts and therefore you have the power to change them if that is truly what you want. If you believe or have faith that you can change your negative thought pattern into a positive one, then you will put the effort necessary to accomplish your goal.

Try these steps and you will find yourself living a happier life, filled with new opportunities. You will ask yourself, where did these opportunities come from? Well, they were always there, you were just blinded by your own negative thoughts.

Is Success Just a Mistake?
Texas Allied Petroleum Success Mistake by Peter Fisher.

To most people success means doing better than someone else. But if someone else fails at something and we don’t, does this mean that success is just a mistake? So long as the mistake is not ours then I suppose the answer might be yes. However, one of the commonest mistakes as well as one of the most expensive is thinking that success is due to some special talent, or something that we do not possess and therefore out of reach except by some mistake.

This negative approach must be rebuffed. Success may be no more than simply holding on but if that is the case then every one of us has success in our reach. When you decide to learn a new language, take a home-study course or teach yourself a new dance, do you set out thinking – will it be a success or will I fail? Of course you don’t. What you do is decide to persevere because you want to succeed at your chosen pastime. So is success just a mistake? Absolutely not! Success is a decision you make, knowing that to succeed may take some time and effort.

Remember the Chinese proverb, “With time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes satin.”

This quotation sums up the need for persistent action:

“Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success.”
– Thomas J. Watson

If you do nothing you can’t fail; but you can’t succeed either. So go ahead and do something, every step takes you nearer to your success.

Success is not just a mistake, it is the result of your decision to succeed and the consequent action you take.

3 Fantastic Tips to the Road of Success

3 Texas Allied Petroleum Fantastic Tips by Shawn Lim.

Everyone wants to be successful. Unfortunately, only a small portion of them actually achieve the things that they really want in their life. Successful people held different belief and mindset in achieving success in their life, which is why they are successful. Therefore, if you want to be successful today, you have to model the belief and the mindset of the successful people, and you will be able to create the similar amazing results just like them.

1. Make success a ‘must’ achieve in your life instead of just dream. Every successful people know that if they want to be successful, they will have to put in 100% commitment and make success a ‘must’ for them. When you make something a ‘must’ achieve, you will do whatever it takes to achieve it. So ask yourself, are you willing to do whatever it takes to achieve success? Is achieving success in your life something a ‘must’ or just a dream?

2. Get out of your comfort zone if you want to be successful. Success will never come automatically, you will have to put in real effort to make it come true. Hence, you need to get out of your comfort zone. As long as you stay in your comfort zone, you will never improve and you will never take the necessary action. There is no free lunch in this world; you will have to sacrifice your time and energy to achieve the things that you want in your life.

3. Never give up no matter what happened. This is one of the most crucial factors that are going to determine your success. If you give up, you will never achieve the things that you want. Therefore, do not give up even if you fail to achieve success. Instead, change your strategies and treat failure as feedback. You fail because you are using the wrong strategies. Keep on trying with different strategies until you achieve what you want. This is the main recipe to success.

Position Yourself For Success

Position Texas Allied Petroleum for Success By Michael Angier.

“Just like in a race or game of chess, you must position yourself to make the right move. By being in the right place
at the right time, you can dramatically increase your chances for success in any endeavor.”

In the spring of 1940, Winston Churchill was asked to lead Great Britain in its defense against Germany. Few could argue that Churchill was the right person for the job.

He later wrote, “I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial.” The new Prime Minister became one of the greatest statesmen in world history. He helped England successfully resist and (with the help of the U.S.) eventually defeat the Nazi war machine.

He was prepared for leadership.

We don’t have control over what happens to us. We do have a great deal of control over how we prepare ourselves and position ourselves for reaching our goals.

There may be times in our lives when the path ahead is unclear-when we’re not quite sure of which direction we should choose. If this is the case, we can always prepare for that time when we are clear and we do know exactly what to do. This can be a valuable time of preparation. And it can pay big dividends. Oftentimes, merely the process of preparation-the activity itself-will provide clarity and certainty as to our plans.

I recommend you use the following checklist to improve your personal positioning. How do you rate in each area? What can you do to enhance your preparedness?

1. Health and Vitality. You can’t have get-up-and-go if you don’t have a reserve of energy and good health. We must take care of ourselves in order to have the drive and strength to go after our dreams. You know what to do. It’s common sense. Eat right, get adequate rest, and take good care of your body. It’s the only one you get.

2. Education and Skills. What you know and what you can do in terms of skills is a big part of your positioning. What skills do you need to work on? What do you need to learn? Take some classes. Do some research. Read. Make a commitment to a life-long search for knowledge and upgrading your skills. It will not only increase your preparation quotient, but it will keep you feeling stimulated-even young.

3. Contacts. The people you know and the relationships you’ve developed over the years can be a virtual gold mine to you. It’s imperative you cultivate and build your associations in order to obtain help and round up talent for your projects.

4. Self-Image and Self-Esteem. How you feel about yourself comes across to others. It can’t be faked. You increase your self-esteem by doing the right thing-always. You improve your confidence by doing what you say you’ll do-whether you say it to yourself or to others. Every time we lie, we chip away at our self-image.

There is no status quo. We either build or tear down our self-esteem. Integrity is the essence of everything successful.

5. Finances and Credit. Most opportunities involve an investment of money as well as time and energy. Having money in the bank and good credit on which to borrow can go a long way toward tipping the scales in your favor. In the world of business, “cash is king.” Pay off those debts and create some savings (if you haven’t already) and get ready.

6. Attitude. People with good attitudes not only get more done, they attract opportunity and people who can help them.

How to Achieve Success – A Primer For Income Generation

Texas Allied Petroleum Income Generation By Niko Poulios.

“…our love of what is beautiful does not lend to extravagance; our love of things of the mind does not make us soft. We regard wealth as something to be properly used rather than as something to boast about. As for poverty, no one need be ashamed to admit it; the real shame is not taking practical measures to escape from it…” Pericles. 430 B.C.

SUCCESS! What is success? According to the dictionary, success is the attainment of wealth, favor or eminence. A favorable termination of a venture. So the next logical question is, what is wealth? Again, according to the dictionary, wealth is abundance of valuable material possessions or resources.

One may observe that our world is covered with an abundance of materials and resources, which brings us to the third and most fundamental question of: how come these material possessions and resources are in the hands of a very small group of people, people who are considered to be …wealthy? Who are these people? Are they different? How did they become successful?

These are the basic questions that average people ask when they can take a moment from their daily routines of “trying to make a living”. I have spent a good number of years of my life reading and learning about successful people and all this research has brought me to this monumental finding: in life, if you want to become a doctor you study medicine, if you want to become an architect you study architecture, therefore, if you want to become successful, you have to study success!

Most people would like to become successful and accumulate wealth. Statistics indicate that a lot of them try and fail. If you think about it, the reason is very simple: most of us, as we are growing up, we are constantly bombarded with information about what we can and can not do by people from our immediate environment, who basically care about us but, with a few exceptions, have not accomplished much and sometimes are failures. Unless you come from a family of millionaires, chances are that your grandparents depend on some form of assistance for survival, such as, social security, family help or other assistance, and your parents are probably struggling to make a living to help you get a job or to go to college so that you can go out and struggle for a living.

It turns out that you are taught to be “average” every day of your life, by average people, thus if you dare to think success, the thought alone will probably shock you. That is why becoming successful, wealthy, and staying wealthy has to do with conditioning yourself, your mind, your thoughts, your beliefs, your instincts, to think different, to think successful and to think wealthy.

Success – A Matter of Attitude

Matter of Texas Allied Petroleum Attitude By Louie Ang.

Success has always been a matter of attitude. In the past, there have been many figures that made great contributions to society despite their predicament or lack of opportunity. One of the more renowned examples is Beethoven who despite losing his hearing composed some of the best pieces in the history of music. The time might’ve been different but the drive to succeed should be no different today than it was back then.

Here in the country, success stories are a dime a dozen but even though there are plenty here that made it to the top people still ask how they did it. Let me tell you one thing about them, they are where they are because they had the right attitude in reaching their goal. According Teodorico Haresco, Philippines’ resident entrepreneur, it doesn’t matter where you came from but how you deal with adversities along the way to get to where you want to be. I admit that having the attitude for success isn’t the only thing you need but it can surely give you the drive to acquire the necessary requirements for you to improve yourself and finally reach your goal.

One thing that I’ve learned from experience is that no matter how good you are, your attitude towards any task will affect its outcome. If your state of mind is directed towards failure then even if you finish a task it will still turn out mediocre. If you believe that you would succeed and put in all your effort then even if the task is small it will still garner praises. I personally believe that a sense of balance is your best tool when it comes to any venture and knowing when to move forward and stop is something that could save you from unwanted outcomes. Knowledge, experience and the right attitude will certainly lead you to the right road to success.

Why You Need Self Improvement and Motivation to Succeed in Life

Texas Allied Petroleum in Life By Shawn Lim.

Do you want to be successful in your life? If your answer is yes, then you will need self improvement and motivation in your life. Self improvement is something that allows you to learn and acquire new knowledge while motivation is the force and energy that will keep you going in your life.

In order to achieve your goals, live the kind of life you always dream about and be successful life, you need both self improvement and motivation. The determination to learn and the commitment to take the necessary action to make things come true are the 2 factors that will determine your success.

Unfortunately, most people lack both of them. For most people, they never read any books after they leave their student’s life. If a book can give you an idea of how you can improve your life and you read a book per week, what do you think will happen to your life? You will have read roughly 50 books a year and I can guarantee you that the knowledge you acquire from the books are enough to improve the quality of your life.

As for motivation, most people lack motivation and they never take any action even though they knew what they should do. For example, if you want to be rich, you know you cannot depend only on the income from your job; you need to create extra income. However, most people don’t have the drive or motivation to do it. Instead, they give lousy excuses such as they don’t have the time, they don’t have the money or they just don’t know how.

This is why you need to have both self improvement and motivation to succeed in your life. There are a lot of self improvement techniques out there. And the best way to learn them is by learning from someone who knows the proven method or system that can help you in achieving what you want in your life.

Texas Allied Petroleum Yes, You Can by Carol Rongey.

Economic recession, wars, unemployment, foreclosures, crime, government bailouts, illness, taxes, the list goes on and on. Everywhere we turn today, from the news to conversations at our favorite coffee shop, negativity and bad news surrounds us. If it hasn’t affected us directly, we’re afraid it will soon. It seems hopeless. No wonder there is an increase in depression today.

Does life have to be like this? NO! Sure, sometimes things happen to us that we have no control over, but how we prepare for them and how we handle them is up to us.

Don’t be dependent on your doctor and your local pharmacy for your health. The first key to being healthy is to take care of yourself today, instead of getting sick, taking medications, and getting sick again because you didn’t make any changes in your lifestyle. Your doctor can’t make healthy choices for you, but Yes, You Can!

Everyone is concerned about the economy today, but sitting back and complaining about how our politicians are handling things isn’t improving your personal economy at all.

Give yourself an economic stimulus package by having multiple streams of income. Having a side business that brings in a few hundred dollars a month can not only help with your monthly expenses today, but could easily turn into a full time business should you get laid off from your “day job”. A benefit of home-based businesses that many people are unaware of is the numerous tax benefits of having a business that you run out of your home. Can you really make more money? Yes, You Can!

Look for ways to cut your expenses any way you can. Educate yourself on different types of mortgages so you can discuss your options with your broker and decide together what is best for your situation, do not just take his/her advice blindly. Another big expense today is insurance. Auto, health and life insurance together can cost hundreds of dollars each month. Learn how much coverage you really need. Learn about ways to reduce your premiums. Research different insurance companies. Can you reduce your monthly expenses? Yes, You Can!

By now you’re probably asking yourself how you can be an expert on so many different subjects. You don’t have to be! Learn enough to ask specific questions of those who are experts. Learn enough to let the experts know that you are knowledgeable about their subject and if they can’t answer your questions to your satisfaction, you will find someone who can. Learn enough so you are making decisions, not letting someone else make them for you. Can you gain this much knowledge? Yes, You Can!

Making Texas Allied Petroleum Decisions By: Gamy Rachel.

Decisions making is the hardest thing to do when a person is confused. So when it comes to making the right decisions, it is even harder. But self improvement is about making decisions and making the right ones.

To have a positive change in your life, you have to decide you want a positive change, and this in itself is making a decision.

You cannot just hope you will have a positive change in your life, or just wishing it will come, you have to decide to take a positive action towards this change, pursue it aggressively, and stick to it no matter what.

But on the other hand, making New Year resolutions are not decisions, because it is just a wishful thinking. If you only want a positive change during New Year, you will be most disappointed. You have to want positive changes everyday of your life, not only during New Year.

Make it a point to stick to it. It is fine even if you fail to keep at it in the beginning, as long as you make a decision that each time you fall, you will stand up again, again and again.

A person who is getting sick and tire and fed up with his or her current situation will more likely to take positive steps and stick to it compared to a person who is lukewarm and still living in the comfort zone.

Decisions require 100% of our commitment, not 99%, not even 99.999%, it has to be 100%. Think about this, when a person is almost there, is actually not there at all. How can you be almost there at one place? Either you are there or not there, there is no such thing as I am almost there.

If you find that making positive changes in your life is difficult, and hard to stick to it, you may also get help from coaching programs, audio programs, self help or self improvement courses, audio programs and books. Learn from the successful people, they are not there because they are smarter then you, they are there because they have once made a positive decision to change and carry it through.

Brian Tracy, a successful motivator and trainer said this,”The fastest way for you to succeed is by piggy-backing on the good advice and counsel of men and women who have already spent years learning how to succeed. When you do this on a regular and systematic basis, you will open up doors of opportunity and possibilities for you that today you cannot even imagine.”

Successful people are always looking for ways to improve themselves and are aware that regardless how good they think they are, there is always room for improvement. Such people know that happiness and fulfillment is based on their consistent growth and contribution based on self-improvement ideas.

So why not learn from them? If we know how to go about it, we would be already up there and not down here. It is not that successful people do not have any problems, but they know how to react and how to handle problems better then we do, and 10 out of 10 successful people are avid readers. So get yourself gear up by reading and learning.

Personal Branding – How To Label Yourself For Career Promotion

Too often job seekers send out resumes without a focus or message that speaks to the reader. They include all of their jobs going back many years with an extensive list of job responsibilities.

What they fail to do is convey their unique personal brand or value proposition to a hiring manager that clearly demonstrates what it is they do best – even better than anyone else!

When you think about a product, what comes to mind? It is the look, feel, smell, performance, quality, or low cost? Whatever it is, that is what sets it apart from similar products. Not surprisingly, it is probably the one thing a company aggressively promotes about the product.

If a company is buying a candidate, that in turn makes the candidate the product and the hiring company the consumer. So, the same would be true when setting yourself apart from other job seekers in your field.

Why should a company choose you when they have ten other candidates with similar career paths?

If you know the answer to that question, then that is your personal brand! If not, then you need to find out what it is.

Here are some simple steps to get started:

STEP 1: Research Your Personal Brand

Conduct a marketing survey by asking your friends, family, and past co-workers what they think of you on a personal and professional level. You might be surprised at the responses, good and bad! For this exercise, we are going to focus on the positive.

STEP 2: Define Your Personal Brand

Here are a few general examples to help you translate the feedback to your personal brand (parenthesis):

Workaholic (hardworking, determined, ambitious, driven)

Always busy doing something (project oriented; multitask oriented; energetic).

Someone to turn to when advice is needed (good listener with consultative skills; problem solver).

Someone to count on in a pinch (reliable; team player).

Frugal; knows how to stretch the mighty dollar (budget conscious).

Handy around the house and in the yard (technically or mechanically inclined; good with tools).

STEP 3: Market Your Personal Brand

Okay, you are probably wondering what you are supposed to do with the information once you have it, and how you can apply it to your resume (your marketing tool) to brand youself.

In step 2, you were provided with general examples in various areas. If these responses revealed a common thread with the same qualities listed from nearly everyone you surveyed, you can start building your personal brand around that message.

Let suppose one of the areas most noted in your survey results indicated that you are “always busy doing something.” That could possible translate to “project oriented.” If you determine that the position you are seeking requires that skill set, then you can use it.

If this were the case, then you will need to think back to all of the positions you have held involving special projects that went beyond the daily routine, and list the project highlights.

Be sure to show how you managed all aspects of the projects. Do not just list the project type.

This way you can target a project-oriented position in almost any field. Armed with your valuable feedback and experience, you can show your interests and skills to convey you are either qualified or positioned to transition to that role.

For example, if you are seeking a construction site project manager position or an IT project management position, the focus of your personal brand message should start with the job title.

You should prominently display the job title in all caps such as PROJECT MANAGER followed by a great Career Profile followed by a keywords category to show the reader that you are indeed about project management.

Somewhere under Professional Experience, you should take it to the next level by emphasizing you projects under a Project Highlights section.

Keywords could include project management, team leadership, crew scheduling, budget control, inventory control, purchasing, equipment installation, systems integration, regulatory compliance, performance measurement, quality assurance, and so forth.

Using this branding technique will help you to connect with the reader. This exercise will also help you to decide what you really want to do and will prepare you for interviews.

We have used Project Manager to illustrate the process. However, the same steps apply to any field or occupation. Whatever it is that people express about you, you need to translate that to a work skill and identify what you have done in your work history that falls under that category if you are looking for a position in that line of work.

We all have many qualities and unique experiences. The mistake people make on their resumes is to either list too little or too much. Even worse, they do not focus on their key strengths and core competencies. If you fail to emphasize your key strengths and core competencies specific to the job you are targeting, you are failing to brand yourself effectively.

It is all in the packaging. Make sure you figure out what your brand message is and promote yourself around that concept so you can compete with the best of them and negotiate your buying price. Translation: top salary!
